Voters approve renewal of tax levy for Rolling Hills Library

A tax levy renewal for the Rolling Hills Library in Buchanan and Andrew County passed by a wide margin Tuesday with an unofficial total of 3,211 voting "yes" and 822 voting "no".

Rolling Hills Library Director, Michelle Mears, says the library staff is happy and grateful for the voter turnout on the levy.

"They levy was 15 cents, was a 20-year sunset.  We just were renewing that.  That was the exact same amount that was originally passed in 1999, so it's just a continuation.  Nobody's taxes went up.  So we're happy.  As it turns out, it's about half of our operating budget, so it really would have been devastating if had not been able to pass."
